Rollo May Peters was born on February 15, 1944, in Vinita, Oklahoma to James Floyd and Ruth Marie (Mullens) Kirby; she passed away on July 9, 2021 at her home in Pryor, surrounded by her family.
Rollo grew up and attended school up to the 6th grade in Jay then later attended school in Pryor. She and Owen Eugene "Pete" Peters were married on December 24, 1960 and made their home in Pryor. Rollo was a homemaker and mom for many years, then decided to get her education to become a nurse. She attended Rogers State in the early 80's where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked in Tulsa at Hillcrest Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital, early in her career, then at Grand Valley Hospital, as an ER nurse for many years. She retired in 2000.
In her free time, Rollo enjoyed cooking and baking for her family; Sunday dinners were her favorite time to spend with them. She also enjoyed camping. Her favorite pastime by far though, was her grandchildren; she attended all their ballgames, loved having them over to her house to play and she made each of them dream catchers over the years. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Owen "Pete", of the home; three children, Wade Allen Peters of Adair, LaDena True and husband Curtis of Pryor and Lynette Koedyker and husband Corey of Eufaula; eleven grandchildren, Micheal True, Toby True, Angela Brewster, Chelsea Anderson, Kyle True, James Peters, Chase Gilpin, Casey Gilpin, Ethan Peters, Samantha Standstipher, Taylor Koedyker and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe Kirby and Roy Kirby; two sisters, Betty McCollister and Sula Coffelt and one great granddaughter, Makayla Brewster.
