July 16, 1939 - May 8, 2025
Owen Eugene Peters, 85-year-old Pryor resident passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Salina Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1939, in Pryor to Joseph Alfred Peters and Verdie Ella (Weaver) Peters. Owen was a graduate of Pryor High School in 1956, after high school he served his country in the United States Air Force. Owen married the love of his life Rollo May Kirby on December 24, 1960. Owen worked in maintenance for Georgia Pacific for many years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Pryor. Owen loved his family and spending Sunday dinners with them. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to ballgames, and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rollo May in 2021, fifteen siblings, a son Wade Allen Peters in 2023, son in law Curtis True in 2021, and great granddaughter, Makayla Brewster.
The family includes his daughters, LaDena True of Pryor, Lynette Koedyker and husband Corey of McAlester, eleven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor.
The celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Freewill Baptist in Pryor, Pastor Rusty Harrison will officiate. Interment will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor.
Casket bearers will be Toby True, Kyle True, Chase Gilpin, Casey Gilpin, Ethan Peters, and Angela Brewster. Honorary bearers will be Michael True, James Peters, and Chelsea Anderson.
