Ruth Catherine (Fischer) Houchin, 86-year-old Pryor resident, passed away early Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 7, 1938, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Victor and Lucille (Dozier) Fischer. Ruth married Raymond C. Houchin on June 25, 1974, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, he preceded her in death on November 18, 2009. Ruth loved to read, lay on the beach, taking trips all over the United States and foreign countries, and mostly being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, step-son Danny Houchin in 2010, daughter in law, Nelda Morgan in June of 2024, daughter, Marina Holmes and a son in law, Bill Holmes, and five siblings.
The family includes her children, Rex Morgan of Pryor, Scott Morgan of Pryor, Charlotte Woods of Broken Arrow, Tammy Gann (Kenny) of Pryor, Chrissy Price (Roger) of Adair, siblings, Robert Fischer of Velpen, Indiana, Charlie Fischer of West Fargo, North Dakota, John Fischer of Needles, California, Edie Hickman of Paoli, Indiana, Cathy Bright of English, Indiana, Susie Stenftenagel of Jasper, Indiana, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
