Dr. Donald Higgins
September 7, 1933 - August 31, 2024

Dr. Donald Howard Higgins, 90-year-old Pryor resident, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Hillcrest South in Tulsa. He was born on September 7, 1933, in Sedalia, Missouri to Cecil Howard Higgins and Opal Irene (Busker) Higgins. Dr. Higgins was a graduate of Sedalia's Smith-Cotton High School in 1951. He later attended and graduated from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Higgins owned and operated his chiropractic center in Pryor for many years. He loved to go line dancing, pheasant hunting, deer and antelope hunting, coaching baseball and football for the Pryor Youth and was instrumental in starting the youth football program in Pryor. In his early years he played baseball in the minor leagues for Kansas City. Dr. Higgins enjoyed cooking for his family's birthdays, and on the holidays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John "Bull" Higgins, brother-in-law Howard Turner, his long-time companion, Marjorie Creath, and a very special great-grandson, Landen Matthew Thompson in 2008.

The family includes his children, Connie McDaniel and husband Dean of Pryor, Debbie Thompson of Pryor, Ronnie Higgins of Tulsa, and Robert Higgins and wife Lisa of Pryor, sister Patsy Rabourn and husband Bill of Sedalia, Missouri, sister, Lucy Turner of Des Moines, Iowa, sister-in-law, Betty Ann Higgins of Sedalia, Missouri, grandchildren, Kimberly, Randy Jr., Stacy, Brittany, Tiffany, Brandon, Brett, and Ryan; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor.

The celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Stephens-Key Chapel with Pastor Andrew Rehbein officiating. Interment will follow at Graham Memorial Park Cemetery in Pryor. Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor. "Family owned and operated."
