Christine LaVerl Griner
April 1, 1950 - May 1, 2025
Christine LaVerl (Goodell) Griner, a 75-year-old resident of Oklahoma City (formerly of Pryor) passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Integris Baptist Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on April 1, 1950, in Pryor to Virgil Louis Goodell and Ivria LaVerl (Ramsey) Goodell.
Christine graduated from Dennison High School in Dennison, Texas, in 1968, then earned her associate degree from Grayson County College. On August 30, 1969, she married the love of her life, Larry Odell Griner. As Larry served in the United States Air Force, he and Christine lived wherever the military took them. Christine worked as a reservations clerk for Southwest Airlines for approximately 15 years. In 1994, they settled in their home in Oklahoma City. She was a devoted member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Christine placed great importance on loving her family and rarely missed her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was also a talented pianist and loved to travel. Her presence will be greatly missed by her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Ivria Goodell.
Christine is survived by her loving husband, Larry, of the home; her son, Scott Griner of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Staci Scarborough and husband Thomas of Denver, Colorado; her brother, Rick Goodell of Garland, Texas; her sister, Carolyn Nutter and husband Tim of Pryor; five grandchildren, Seth Griner, Zachary Scarborough and wife Jordan, Alexis Griner, Shayla Scarborough, Lincoln Griner, and two great-grandchildren, Noelle and Hayden Scarborough.
The celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor, with Pastor Clint Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
