Irene Coblentz
October 4, 1930 - January 24, 2025
Irene Coblentz, 94, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in 1930, Irene lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by her loving family and cherished friends. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially going out to eat, with Country Cottage being one of her favorite spots. She also had a deep love for shopping and treasured the time she spent babysitting her grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her days. Irene dedicated her professional life to serving and connecting with her community. She worked as the city clerk in Chouteau for a year and a half, and her warm and friendly nature was a perfect fit for her roles in several dress shops in Pryor over the years. Later, she worked at Dee's In and Out Convenience Store, where she enjoyed greeting and serving her customers. Irene's vibrant personality, her love for family, and her unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Duane Fought and wife Barbara of Pryor; her brother, Tom Giles of Pryor; her sisters, Melvina Karklin of Pryor and Esther Carter of New Mexico; her granddaughter, Jimmie Lee Moody and husband Sean of Pryor; six great-grandchildren, Chelsey and husband Beau Beathard, Seth Stricklen, Shaye and husband Dillon Manchell, Kaci and wife Maddie Stricklen, Addison Moody, and Cole Moody; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lexi, Brixey, Scarlet, Landon, Emersyn, Sophie, and Paislee; step-children, Lydia Troyer, Al & Betty Coblentz, Rudy & Shirley Coblentz, Paul & Reita Coblentz, Ervin & Rosella Coblentz, Bill & Liz Pankratz, Dave & Mary Jantz Kauffman, Lloyd & Roselene Coblentz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Giles and Idella (Boatright) Giles; her husbands, Wayne Fought and Lloyd Coblentz; her sister, Helen Ackley, and step sons-in-law Earl Troyer and Calvin Jantz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor, Oklahoma. Burial will be held in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home.
