Don Woodward
August 7, 1948 - June 16, 2025
Pryor

Don Woodward, 76, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on June 16, 2025, at his home. Born on August 7, 1948, in Rolston Bend, Oklahoma, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions.

He served honorably in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, Don retired from the Oklahoma State Department of Wildlife, where he worked as a fisheries technician. His professional life was intertwined with his love for nature, and he found great joy in hunting and fishing. After his retirement, Don enjoyed going to the cattle sale on Wednesdays, in Vinita with family and friends. He also had a keen interest in muscle cars. Don's life was enriched by his love for family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and passion for life serves as a lasting testament to a man who lived fully and with purpose.

Don's family was central to his life. He married Karen Pierce on November 24, 1976, at the Bryan Chapel Methodist Church in Boatman, Oklahoma. Together, they built a loving home filled with cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Woodward, and their children: son Randy Woodward and wife Abby of Pryor, Oklahoma, and daughter Jennifer Montgomery and husband Brian, also of Pryor, Oklahoma. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Case, Maggie, and Clayton Woodward, who brought him immense joy.

In addition to his immediate family, Don is survived by his sister, Dena Fisher and husband Keith of Grove, Oklahoma; niece Carolyn Shepherd of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and nephews David Yandell and wife Tracey and Mike Yandell and wife Teresa, both of Fairfax, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred (Winfield) Woodward, and stepmother, Avis Woodward who married Jack on November 27, 1965; and sisters Louise Edwards, Kathlene Loveland, Margaret Chapman, and Laverne Yandell.

Funeral services for Don will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Westside Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor John Baumert officiating. Interment will follow in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery with David Yandell, Cody Yandell, Shaun Shephard, Roger Shrum, Steve Bishop, and Jesse Phillips serving as casket bearers.
