Imogene Ann Stafford, a cherished matriarch and devoted follower of Christ, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Born on June 14, 1938, in Vinita, Oklahoma, Imogene was a beacon of love and support to her family and friends throughout her life.
Imogene's faith was a cornerstone of her existence; she was baptized into Christ on June 27, 1960, in Saline Creek and lived her life with unwavering devotion to her beliefs. Her nurturing spirit and selflessness endeared her to many, earning her affectionate names such as Sis, Jeannie, Sweetheart, Momma, Grandma, and Momma Jean. Through her actions and words, she exemplified the loyalty and commitment detailed in the book of Ruth, cultivating a legacy of love and care for those around her.
Imogene will be remembered for her fabulous meals, which brought family together and created lasting memories, as well as her spirited personality that added joy to every gathering. She cherished adventure, particularly family excursions across the country, where her adventurous spirit shone brightly. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and she demonstrated this through her lifelong commitment to ensuring that all her loved ones were cared for.
Imogene is survived by her husband, Bob Stafford, with whom she shared her life, as well as her son, Bobby Stafford and wife Valerie of Pryor, OK; daughter, Rhonda Combs and husband David of Inola, OK; brothers, Ray Sanders and wife Pat of Salina, OK, and Roy Sanders and wife Ava of Owasso, OK; and sister, Betty Stilley and husband Cullus of Spavinaw, OK. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Darla, Corey, Shea, Brynn, Daniel, Travis, and Kimberly; her great grandchildren: Brittney, Dalton, Colton, Caley, Addy, Logan, Carson, Rylee, Weston, Emmi, Evan, Eli, Emmett, Lexi, Brennan, Michael, Logan, and Makayla; and her great great grandchildren: Presley, Preston, Paxton, Eisley, Waylon, and one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Claire Sanders; her daughter, Jeannie Ann Dobbs; her brothers, Elbert Sanders, Albert Sanders, Nathan Sanders Jr., George Ben Sanders, and Howard Sanders; and her sister, Jerry Arthurs.
Imogene Ann Stafford's presence will be profoundly missed, and her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
