March 25, 1937 - January 22, 2026
Locust Grove

Barbara Maxine Pierce, age 88, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on January 22, 2026. She was born on March 25, 1937, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Modest (Qualls) Chitwood.

Barbara truly loved living on and caring for her 60-acre farm, which was built in the 1960s and shared with her children. She raised cattle and took great pride in the land she called home. A hard worker all her life, Barbara worked for 13 years at the Yarn Mill, 5-1/2 years at Plus Poultry, and later as a nurse's aide at Colonial Terrace.

She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, and bowling, and was a dedicated member of a bowling league for 15 years. Family meant everything to Barbara, and she loved family get-togethers - especially when chocolate and pies were involved. She also enjoyed country music, particularly Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. Above all, Barbara was a wonderful woman who deeply loved her family and cherished every moment with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Modest (Qualls) Chitwood, and her sister, Rose Marie Jackson.
