Marvin Everett Grayson was born on September 27, 1932 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Alonzo and Eva (Ramey) Grayson. He passed away on September 14, 2016 in Claremore at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 18 days.
Marvin graduated from Alva High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in 1948, then was drafted into active duty with the United States Army in September of 1950. He served and was honorably discharged on January 28, 1952.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum as a research technician for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
He and Mary Jo (Jodi) Miller were married on April 5, 1971 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They lived their retirement years in the Lake Hudson area then moved to Pryor 5 years ago.
Marvin enjoyed mechanics, woodworking and fishing. He was known to be a "jack of all trades" and loved tinkering and making gifts for his family. He enjoyed the time he spent teaching his grandchildren to fish and loved having family gatherings at the lake. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was a member of the American Legion and attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo "Jodi" of the home; 6 children, Billie Sue Grayson of Bartlesville, Mary Ann (Annie) Holmes and husband Jesse of Chouteau, Kay Currin and husband Arlon of Claremore, David Miller, Jack Miller and wife Diana, Deb Miller all of Barnsdall; 8 grandchildren and one on the way, 20 great grandchildren; brother, Irvin Grayson and wife Nancy of Houston and also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Terry, 3 brothers, Jim, Rusty and Don and sister, Aline. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina. Rev. Bob Belew officiated with burial following at Benge Cemetery in Adair. Services are entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral & Cremation Care in Pryor.
