LOCUST GROVE - Jack Milton Huddleston was born May 17, 1926, in Picher to Victor Clark and Pauline Louise (Ross) Huddleston. He departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 20 days.Mr. Huddleston graduated from Locust Grove High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1944 through March 1947. He also attended college at Northeastern A and M in Miami, Okla., and Oklahoma A and M, in Stillwater.Jack worked as an aircraft technician. He spent most of his life in the Locust Grove area. He was of the Methodist faith and had been a Mason for many years. Jack had a zest for life and was quite a storyteller. He loved woodworking and was very artistic. He enjoyed carving, fishing and hunting. He was a great mechanic and had written several books and memoirs.Jack is survived by three sons: Ken Huddleston and wife Beverly of Dewey, Mark Shear and wife Kristen of Dallas, Texas, and David Huddleston and wife Sandra of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Amy Huddleston of Houston, Texas; two brothers: Ross Huddleston of Chouteau, and Gary Huddleston of Texas; one sister, Wanda Stipes of Locust Grove; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clay Shear; one daughter, Charlene Huddleston; and one brother, Lee Huddleston.The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, from 5-7 p.m., at the Locust Grove Funeral Home. A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Grace Bible Church in Pryor. Rev. Randy Huddleston will officiate. Interment will follow at the Ross-Mayes Cemetery near Salina.
