Pamela Lynn Bickford
July 25, 1958 - March 24, 2016
Pamela Lynn Bickford passed away March 24, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the youngest daughter of Ross and Leona Huddleston, born in July of 1958. She met Paul Bickford, her best friend and husband of 34 years while working a summer job as a meter reader for PSO. She will be missed by her father, brothers Randy and Roger, three children, Paul Matthew and wife Bethany, Chrystal Lena Antao and husband Barry, and Benjamin Ross and wife Jennie, along with 13 grandchildren, Sasha, Brookelynn, Isabelle, Virginia, Natalya, Ross, Josephine, Savannah, Abigail, Alexander, Isabella, Isaiah, and number 13 due in November.
Pamela learned the lessons required to run a small business from her parents who over the years started several small businesses. While she knew that one day she would put those skills to work, she realized her priority was to be a wife and mother. As she always did, she invested every ounce of her energy into educating her children while they were homeschooled, instructing at their Martial Arts classes, cheering the loudest at baseball games, and driving all over the country for art competitions.
When the time came that the kids were grown and running their own lives, she began to put feet on her dreams. In 2001, with a garage sale desk, $500, a computer, and a commitment to building a company that would contribute to the local economy she founded Cherokee Data Solutions. A couple years later she eventually convinced her husband to quit his job and bring his technical expertise to CDS. Together they were unstoppable and posted record growth year after year simply by sticking to their principles of relationships and loyalty. They provided the same stellar service whether it was a multi-million dollar federal contract or a 3 person start-up in an economically challenged market. She used her position to advocate strongly in support of other women owned businesses, particularly Native American Women. Even as recently as a month ago, she took time out of her Cancer treatment schedule to speak to young women about the importance of developing their leadership skills, exhorting them to find the place that they can make a difference in the world. Somewhere along the way she still found the energy to travel to Colorado with her father on an epic elk hunting trip in the mountains and last December was honored with a Black Belt from her lifelong sensei, Roger Greene.
Today Pamela is smiling and in the arms of her Savior, her husband, and her mother. Her family would like to invite you to celebrate her life with them at First Baptist Church, Claremore, OK on Friday, April 1, at 11:00 AM. Graveside service will follow at Ross-Mayes Cemetery in Salina, OK under the direction of DeLozier Funeral Service, Chelsea. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-7 at the First Baptist Church, Claremore, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pamela Bickford - Native Women in Business Memorial at RCB Bank.
