Kevin "KV" Vaughan
August 15, 1959 - November 4, 2024

Kevin Dewayne "KV" Vaughan was born on August 15, 1959, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Bessie Helen Vaughan. On Monday, November 4, 2024, Kevin left this life near Peggs, Oklahoma, at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 20 days.

A lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Kevin graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1977, where he proudly represented his school both on the football field and wrestling mat. His athletic journey continued at Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas, where he played collegiate football. Kevin was also a devoted member of the Bryan Street Warriors basketball team, spending countless hours at Gorda Park in Locust Grove. Over the years, he worked as a laborer doing sheet rock and trim work.

Kevin's love for music was a core part of his life. He cherished playing the guitar and singing. He was a fan of rock-n-roll and Elvis. His passion for sports was equally strong, especially football. He was a die-hard fan of the Locust Grove Pirates. Known throughout the community for his storytelling, his tales have become legendary, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

Kevin's kindness extended to animals as well, particularly dogs. He had a soft spot for strays, caring for them whenever he could. His generosity knew no bounds; he never turned away anyone in need, often sacrificing his own comforts to lend a hand. Known for his adventurous spirit, cantankerous charm, and unwavering loyalty, Kevin always wore a smile and had a positive outlook. Family was central to him, as he deeply loved his children, wanting only the best for them. Kevin was beloved by many and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and the countless lives he touched.

Kevin is survived by his children: 3 children: Kent Vaughan of Fort Worth, Texas, Colton Vaughan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Susie Katherine Benight of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Pam Anderson and husband Eldon of Chandler, Oklahoma and Debbie Cole and husband Doyle of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Helen Vaughan; his brothers, Mike Vaughan, Randy Vaughan, and Rodney Vaughan; and his nephew, Josh Anderson.

A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend David Downing and Kent Vaughan. Interment will follow at the Little Rock Indian Cemetery near Locust Grove. Arrangements have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
