David Franklin Breshears
June 11, 1938 - February 11, 2025
David Franklin Breshears, 86-year-old Pryor resident, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on June 11, 1938, in Pensacola, Oklahoma to Ray and Rosetta (Colvin) Breshears. David was married to the love of his life Doris Marie (Barnes) on June 1, 1958, they had 65 wonderful years together, she preceded him in death on March 13, 2023. David had worked for the Pryor Foundry and Public Service, he retired from Baker-Hughes, where he worked as a machinist for several years. He also loved the farm life, taking care of his cattle and chickens, raising watermelon and cantaloupe in his garden, baling hay for everyone in his area (no cab on his tractor). David was in his happy place on the farm. He was a member of the Utopia Baptist Church at Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, son, David Earl Breshears in November of 2024, a sister, Helen Morgan, a brother, J. L. Breshears, great granddaughter, Zowie, and a grandson, Steven.
The family includes his daughters, Mary Pope of Pryor, Vivian Breshears of Vinita, Synthia Hoffman of Chelsea, grandchildren, Cassie, Kristopher, Margina, Mariah, Shawnna, and Scott, great-grandchildren, Houstin, Breagan, Nyah, Zovahlee, Kaylee, Remington, Paytience, Zariyah, Heavyn, and Blayne, great-great-grandson, Xayne.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor.
The celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. "but if you knew David you had to be there an hour early" so the service will actually start at 2:00 p.m." Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Utopia Baptist Church near Pensacola with Pastor Eric Troyer officiating. Interment will follow at Ghormley Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.stephen-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
