Donald C. Gowen
February 12, 1934 - June 9, 2024
Donald C. Gowen, 90-year-old former Chouteau area resident, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Bella Rose Senior Living in Tulsa. He was born on February 12, 1934, in Haworth, Oklahoma to Preston and Charlcie (Dorsey) Gowen. Donald graduated from Haworth High School in 1952. After school he went to work for Western Electric, which became part of AT&T, he was a telephone installer, and later worked in fiber optic installation out of the Tulsa office. He also had a cow and calf operation, along with goats, and other farming practices. He was married to Ozella (Clowers) in 1952, in Dequeen, Arkansas. Donald loved the farm life, working, taking care of his garden, and going fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven siblings.
The surviving family includes his wife Ozella, his children, Debra Thompson and husband Paul of Chouteau, Gary Gowen and wife Sheila of Chouteau, Bruce Alan Gowen and wife Cindy of Prosper, Texas, grandchildren, Kara Guffey and husband Justin, Jenny Anderson and husband Ross, Ginger Williams and husband Ben, Mindy Gregory and husband Brian, great-grandchildren, Kyla, Judah, Eliza, Ezra, Jackson, Samuel, Calloway, Lucy, Brooklyn, Adelynn, and Warren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Chouteau West Cemetery, with Justin Guffey officiating.
