Services for John Duddie Rushing, 75, of Enville, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday May 26 at the Enville Community Church, with Bro. Don Keizor officiating.
Born March 19, 1935 in Powell, the son of William Henry Rushing and Gladys Marie McAlister Rushing, he died Saturday, May 22, 2010.
Mr. Rushing was raised in the Powell and Madill area. In the 7th grade he moved to Marietta where he graduated from Marietta High School in 1954. He later attended Murray State College for two years before serving as Oklahoma State Representative from 1964 t0 1968. He married Peggy Joyce Richardson Honea on September 3, 1968 in Madill. They moved to Arlington, Texas where Rushing was vice president of Good Times Inc. and half owner of Tra-Tech Van Conversion in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1981 they moved to the family farm in Love County where he lived the rest of his life. Rushing was a member of the Enville Community Church in Enville. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, politics, hunting, working with cattle, playing dominos and talking about the Bible.
Rushing is survived by his wife, Peggy Rushing of the home; children, Stacy Rushing and wife, Missy of Enville John Mark Rushing of Madill, William Alan Rushing of Marietta, Patsy Lu Rushing of Fort Worth, Laura Sue Rushing of Kingston, and Deanna Lyn Rushing of Tulsa; stepsons, Jimmy Linn Honea and wife, Laura of Wilson, Bobby Ray Honea of Ardmore, and Mark Honea and wife, Kathi of Madill; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rushing was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jo Ann Cutting and Rita Brito.
Music was arranged by Donna Martin, Rickie Willis, Claudia Vaughn, Chad Robinson, Savannah and Cable Honea.
Pallbearers were Justin Rushing, Montana Rushing, Chase Honea, Cable Honea, Joshua Honea and Teeleih Bond. Honorary bearers were Ken Keith, Carroll Montgomery, Paul Riley, Dr. Khan and the Dialysis Crew.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Kidney Foundation.
