Franklin David Christie

Franklin David Christie, age 87, passed away on May 20, 2025. He was born to Edward and Mina Christie on June 21, 1937, in McMillian, Oklahoma. He attended McMillan Public Schools. On January 7, 1970, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Lou (Pickens) Christie in Gainesville, Texas.

Franklin held many roles in his life, including breaking horses, being a butcher, serving as a police officer as a sergeant on the Madill police force and serving three years in the U.S. Army. He earned many honors and fought in The Cold War while he served in the Army. He was a Christian man and attended Pickens Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Christie and Mina (Pickens) Christie. His siblings Isom, Lewis, Aaron, Elmer, Albert, and LeRoy and great-great-grandson Kaden Lane. His uncle, Andrew Christie

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Bonnie Christie of the home. His daughter Lina "Bugg" Weldon of Madill. His sisters Leona Taylor of Madill and Ella Ross of Okmulgee. His cousin, Galen Christie of Wilburton. Sarah Odle and Aubrey Stewart of Madill. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Emily, Franklin, Oliver, Freya, and Penelope.

Funeral services are set for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pickens Baptist Church in Madill, with burial to follow at Pickens Cemetery. The family will receive friends with a 24-hour wake at Pickens Baptist Church starting at 1:00 PM on May 27, 2025. Officiating is James Jr. Christie, serving as pallbearers are The Madill Police Department. Honorary Pallbearers are: Lonnie Graves, Clayburn Pickens, Danny Westbrook, Ethan Shaw, Caleb Standridge, Darren Bralley, Dakota Hanks, William "Bud" Standridge, and Nathan Standridge.
