Services for Thomas Edward Shaw, Jr., 51, of Madill, were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, in the Crystalrock Cathedral, Ardmore, with Walt Spradling and Jessie Rodgers officiating.
Mr. Shaw was born August 7, 1948, in Oklahoma City, the son of Thomas Edward Shaw Sr. and Sarah Ann Lewis Shaw. He died April 1, 2000, at his residence.
He was raised in Madill and graduated from Madill High School in 1966. Mr. Shaw went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where he graduated in 1970 and from University of Oklahoma Law School in 1973. He and Teressia Jane Lemons were married June 1, 1968, at Madill.
At the age of 25, he was appointed as the youngest judge to ever serve in Oklahoma. After being in office for 2-1/2 years he resigned to answer the call into the ministry. During the succeeding 20 years he traveled to many countries in Africa preaching to crowds up to 100,000 a night sometimes seeing 10,000 saved a night.
Mass evangelism was his real love, but in the last years Mr. Shaw has done pastors' conferences in Uganda and the Philippines. From these two countries through his ministry organization of "Elisha Ministries" many pastors, evangelists and Bible students have been financially adopted and thousands of Bibles shipped there also. His other supporting vocations and loves was the law and ranching.
He and his wife Teressia were married for 32 years having no natural children but taking many youths into their hearts and home for various lengths of time. Mr. Shaw was a member of the non-denominational Crystalrock in Ardmore, and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Teressia Jane Shaw of Madill; mother, Sarah Ann Lewis Shaw of Madill; and brother, Lewis Shaw of Denver, Colorado.
Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Shaw Sr.
Serving as pallbearers were Keith Lyle, Bill White, Lee Dayton, Gary Phelps, Rome Ingle, Butch Hurd, Mike Warkentin and Mark McPherson. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
