Services for Joyce June Hughes, 64, of Madill, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church, Madill, with Bob Waitman officiating. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland.
Born February 8, 1945, in Ardmore, the daughter of Edward Eugene Love and Dovie Alice Pelton Love, she died Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Marshall County Medical Center, Madill.
Mrs. Hughes grew up in Ardmore and moved to Madill in 1974 where she lived the rest of her life. She and Ernest Lee "Cotton" Hughes were married on May 13, 1974 in Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2003. Mrs. Hughes worked at the Madill Pants Factory before working as a nurse's aide at the Madill Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madill and she enjoyed bingo and visiting with friends.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Carla France and Andy and Teresa Hughes of Madill, and Jonathan and Marsha Hughes of Durant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Stanley McDonald and Teresa and Lewis Knight of Madill; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Frank Jimenez of Whitney, Texas, Helen and Harold Akins, Patricia and Jimmy Gratner and Linda and Craig McCall, all of Ardmore; and a brother, Sane Love of Norman.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charles, Ronnie, Jerry and Danny Love; and a sister, Evelyn Hickman.
Pallbearers were Larry "Bow" Hughes, Harold Akins, Harold Wayne Akins, Ronnie Stuckey, Craig McCall and Jimmy Gratner.
