William “Will” Logan Cook, 66, of Madill, OK passed away February
17, 2022 after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
He was born to Bettye Cook Albers and the late Don Cook on January 7, 1956. Will
had 3 siblings; Joe Don, Cynthia Sue, and Charlie and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Will's biggest accomplishment would be his family. Will married
Karen Lee Johnson on November 6, 1976. Together they had two boys,
Logan Todd Cook who married Misty with children Logan Cane and Denim
Ray, and William Casey Cook who married Jennifer with children
William Grady, Jameson Charles, and Kove Sterling. Will loved to
talk of his 5 grandsons and would say he was just building his next
rodeo crew. He found pure joy in following the 2 oldest to sporting
events and junior rodeos to perform and couldn't wait to get the
younger 3 on a horse.
Aside from his own kids and grandsons, Will built an even bigger
Rodeo Family. The list is long but it's distinguished. He always
said " I'll put my best man on it!" Well he wasn't here to tell me
who the best man for the job was so I might leave someone out but
I'll do my best to name a few: Beckie Frazier, Sandra Runyan, Brandy
Ruff, Fuzz Johnson, Tucker Burns, Trevor Raper, C.D. Smith, Brandon
Gains, Eli McGahey, Cody Patton, Hunk Boehme, Rex Claxton, J.R.
McLelland, Ross McDaniel, Rooster Gilstrap, Stormy Maxey, Clint
Lindenfeld, Ketch Weaver, Tanner Bleauchamp, Dalton Yeats, Dekevis
Jordan, Briar Burns, Hayden Bell, Riggin Melton, Dale Martin, and
all the Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers.
These guys and gals were part of a legacy that Will started back in
1981. When Flying C Rodeo began. They meant more to him than they
could ever know.
Will bought his first set of bucking horses in 1981 and the rest is
history. A sitting board member of the United Pro Rodeo Association
for 25 years, Stock Contractor of the Year 17 times, numerous Horses
& Bulls of the Year and an induction into the UPRA Hall of Fame in
2018. Will made a way when it didn't seem possible.
Although our time with Will seems cut short, anyone who had ever
spoken with him, worked for him, or worked with him can tell you he
made an impression like no other. Will could put a smile on any face
with his quick wit, funny stories, and would give the shirt off his
back or the last penny in his pocket to anyone in need.
It's hard to speak about someone who gave us so much, but if you
asked Will Cook it would be more about what everyone meant to him
and the family they became.
