ROBERT LEE AMONETT

BORN OCT 30, 1867 - DIED OCT 12, 1914

A LOVING HUSBAND, A FATHER DEAR,
A FAITHFUL FRIEND LIES BURIED HERE

Linn Cemetery

Email recieved from John Lay. Sunday, Oct 18, 2011. I asked my mother (she's 93 years of age), and she said that there was a real bad flu epidemic in the early 1900's. The epidemic was bad enough that it killed young and old alike. We have many relatives buried at Linn, and know firsthand that some of them also died of typhoid, plus other diseases and causes. By the way, a few of the people in the cemetery (not too many) died of lead poison (44/40, 45/70, 30-30, and maybe even 22 and so on). Robert Lee Ammonett was one that died by gunshot. It's very possible that the person who shot him was also the one that shot out the picture on his headstone. Everyone around here thinks that his headstone is the original one and was put there shortly after he was interred. The picture was shot out shortly after the headstone was put up. My mother said that she heard long ago about who shot the picture out, but she has forgotten who it was.
