She was
born on May 19, 1944, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Marion
Benson Mathis and Mary Jane Elliott Mathis. Sheila was raised in Del
City, Oklahoma where she graduated high school in 1962. She
attended a business school in Oklahoma City before moving to Odessa,
Texas. She married James (Jim) Henry Thompson Sr. on June 5, 1964,
in Del City. She also lived in Richardson, Texas before moving to
Lebanon where she lived the rest of her life. Sheila enjoyed
sewing, cooking, and reading. She was known as a perfectionist and
a handyman; she could fix anything.
