Geneva Hackler Eppler

Services for Geneva Eppler, 86, of Marietta, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, at the Enville Community Church, Enville, with the Rev. Don Keizor and Dr. Tom O'Connor officiating. Interment was in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon.

Born January 8, 1922, at Lebanon, the daughter of Charlie and Burley Rutherford Hackler, she died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Mercy Health Love County Hospital, Marietta.

She and Donald Eppler were married October 11, 1946, at Dallas, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1990. A homemaker, Mrs. Eppler enjoyed sewing and cooking. She cross-stitched many tablecloths and was famous for her hot rolls and fried pies. Mrs. Eppler was a very hard worker as a mother and caretaker of her family. She had lived most of her life in Love and Marshall counties. Mrs. Eppler was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a member of the Marietta Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Oleta Self of Leon, Dewayne and Margie Self of Marietta, David and Susan Eppler of Plano, Texas, and Marvin and Susan Eppler of Ardmore; two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Ken Keith of Madill and Freida LaRue Eppler of Aubrey, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Lou and Frances Blakemore of Wynnewood; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, J.C. Hackler and Levisty Hackler; and her mother and father-in-law, Pearl and Omer Eppler.

Pallbearers were Bill Self, Robert Eppler, Gerald Keller, Christopher Eppler, Leo Eppler, Lynn Self, Scott Self and Benjamin Adasha. Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Hicks, Joel Hicks, Nolen Hicks, Gary Hicks, Glyn Hicks, Marion Hicks, Harold Eppler, Sambo Eppler, Leon Eppler, Clinton Eppler, Randall Blakemore, Roger Blakemore, Dr. Tom O'Connor and Dusty Hux.
