She worked at the Leonard Florist and the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Janice married Bobby Don Akin on April 2, 1954 in Kingston and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2003. She worked as a secretary for her husband who was a superintendent at several small schools in Oklahoma.
Janice was a member of the County Home Extensions and taught several Sunday School Classes and Youth Groups. She was a long time member of the Texoma Baptist Church and the Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. Janice enjoyed reading, playing dominos and cooking. She was also a big Texas Ranger fan, loved family get-togethers and being with her grandkids.She is survived by: Children: Ralph Akin and wife Lisa, Denton, Texas, Don Akin and wife Cindy, Del City, Oklahoma, Mary Smith and husband Joe, Denison, Texas, Joy Norman and husband Stan, Shawnee, Oklahoma, Emily Lee and husband Mike, Davis, Oklahoma, 12 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren. Brother: Tom Corbin, San Antonio, Texas.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother; Johnnie Corbin, 1 sister; Louise Riddle, 1 grandson; Corbin Jim-Bob Akin.Memorials may be made to the Baptist Collegiate Ministries of Southeastern Oklahoma State University New Building Fund, PO Box 12, Durant, OK 74702
Visitation will be Friday at Watts Funeral Home , Kingston, Oklahoma from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a family hour from 6 pm to 7 pm.Services will be Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Watts Funeral Home , Kingston, Oklahoma. Dr. Stan Norman will officiate the service.
Interment will be at the Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, Oklahoma.
Casket Bearers: (Grandsons) Michael Mays, Matt Smith, Andrew Norman, Anthony Akin, Daniel Norman, Stephen Norman, Marshal Lee, Mason Lee, Andrew Kuehl, Charley Lane and Donnie Vu.Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home , Madill, Oklahoma.
