Samuel William Foster (Sam)

February 7, 1934 - February 25, 2021

Sam was born February 7, 1934, to Francis and Gladys Foster in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, and graduated from Aline High School.

He married Virginia Jesse Campbell on August 30, 1953, in Cleo Springs. Sam and Virginia had five children, four sons and one daughter. Sam was passionate about learning and obtained his bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and his master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Sam taught advanced math and science at many high schools throughout northwestern Oklahoma and Colorado, served as a high school administrator and coached high school baseball and boys' and girls' high school basketball. Sam was an enthusiastic hunter and avid traveler. He and Virginia were members of Bible Baptist Church in Enid before moving to Yukon. He died peacefully on February 25, 2021 in Yukon, knowing Jesus Christ as his savior.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Gladys Foster; his sister, Mary Randall and her husband, Francis; daughter, Shelly Burnett and husband, James; Joel James; and great grandchild, Carson Vasquez.

Sam is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Justin Foster, son, Preston Foster and wife, Laura, and son, Kelly Foster all of Yukon, son, Kevin Foster and wife, Kelly of Norman; grandchildren, Chasity St. Vrain and husband, Aaron of Chanute, Kansas, Jeanifer Sims and husband, Chris of Fairview, Samantha Wallace and husband, Curtis of Fairview, Sabrina Mayfield and husband, George of Fairview, Andrea Foster of Yukon, Ashley Foster and Daniel Adame of Oklahoma City, and Chance Foster of Norman as well as fourteen great grandchildren, Trey, Skyler, Kylie, Caden, Piper, Madison, Porter, Bailey, Hunter, Ari, AJ, Avery, Samuel and Sawyer.

A viewing will be held at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Helena, Oklahoma from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 then 10:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 with family present. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Square Cedar Cemetery near Cleo Springs.
