September 3, 1945 - May 13, 2021

Roger W. Foster passed away in his home on May 13, 2021, after a private battle with lung cancer. Roger was born on September 3, 1945, to Jack and Edythe Foster of Ringwood, Oklahoma.

Roger joined the United States Army in 1966 and served for six years. Roger began his Army career in Artillery, but was quickly chosen for flight school. He earned his Commission in 1967 and served as a Helicopter Pilot through the Vietnam War and in South Korea. Roger flew the H-47 Chinook, the H-1 Huey, and a multitude of other helicopters and airplanes over the years. Flying was Roger's passion, and he was always willing to give anyone a tour of the sky.

After the Army, Roger rejoined his work on the family farm in Northwest Oklahoma. In 1988, Roger earned his Law Degree from Oklahoma City University and began practicing family law and criminal defense in Clinton, Oklahoma. Roger was a fierce champion of children's welfare, fought for equal rights for all parents, and touched the lives of many. Most importantly, Roger was an unfailing, hands-on, mostly single, always loving father.

Roger is survived by his daughters, Mica Foster of Alexandria, Virginia, and Emily Foster of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Rebecca Foster; two sisters, Irene Lanman and Carol Grimes and husband, Joe; nephews, David Grimes and Gerald Stricker; niece, Valerie Schelinski and husband, Joel; and many other relatives and friends.

Instead of a viewing, the family will host an informal celebration of Roger's life at the Beany Bar at White Dog Hill in Clinton, Oklahoma, on Thursday, May 20, 2021, beginning at 5:00 p.m. At Roger's request, we will try our darndest not to be "a bunch of people sitting around looking sad." We will share food, a drink or two, and more than a few fun stories.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Square Cedar Cemetery near Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., of Helena, Oklahoma. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

In lieu of flowers, Roger asks you to send donations through the funeral home to the Old Paws Rescue Ranch of Enid, Oklahoma, a senior dog rescue, rehabilitation, foster, and hospice organization.
