Fairview, OK — FAIRVIEW — Funeral service for Earlin Eugene Penner, 80, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Saron Mennonite Church in Orienta, Okla. Burial will follow in Saron Mennonite Cemetery , with arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Earlin was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Loyal, Okla., to Leon L. and Sarah (Hiebert) Penner and passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
Earlin graduated from Fairview High School.
Earlin married Bette Marie Foster on Nov. 21, 1953, at her parents' home in Skellytown, Texas. They made their home in Fairview.
Earlin established a career in grocery management for 20 years with Woodward Redbud, Wedel Foods and Ideal Food Store. He changed careers in 1972, and worked in various manufacturing positions with Waldon for 24 years. After his retirement in 1996, he operated Penner Mower Repair Service.
Earlin was an active, longstanding member of Saron Mennonite Church. He served the church in many capacities, including deacon.
Earlin is survived by his wife, Bette; sons, Randy Penner, and Dwaine and Sheri Penner; daughters Chrysta Kuhns, Penny Schaefer and companion Deborah Mitchell; brother, Sidney and Evelyn Penner; and sister, Evalene Fields. Earlin also is survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Erma "Pinky" Longhofer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to Saron Mennonite Church or Gideons International.
