February 27, 1923 - February 23, 2020

Funeral Services for Effie Thelma Bowers, 96, of Fairview, will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel, Fairview, Oklahoma. The Pastor Dennis King will officiate. Burial will follow in the Saron Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Thelma was born on February 27, 1923, at the family farm north of Cheyenne Valley School to Robert A. and Alvina (Gerl) Mitchell and passed away peacefully in her sleep February 23, 2020 at the young age of 96 years 11 months 27 days.

Thelma grew up working on the family farm and attended school to the 8th grade at the Cheyenne valley School. April 1950 she married the love of her life, Richard A, Bowers. As a farm wife she worked with Richard and was a mother and homemaker. The couple was blessed with one boy, Terry Lee Bowers. She and Richard were married 48 years when on July 28, 1998 he passed away. She remained in their home until 2008 when with failing eyesight, she moved into the Fairview Fellowship Home where she remained until her passing. Thelma was a very loving person to so many people. She will be truly missed.

Thelma is survived by her Daughter-in-law Cindy, two grandchildren, Christina Aline Shifflett her and William A. “Billy” Bowers, her niece Phyllis Mitchell, and good friend Sandi Lorenz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alvina, two brothers, all six sisters, and her son Terry Lee Bowers.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fairview Fellowship Home with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. serving as custodian of the funds.
