Marie Harms
December 17, 1927 - March 22, 2023

Marie (Regier) Harms was born December 17, 1927 near Slater, Wyoming to Gustav and Elise (Nachtigall) Regier. After an extended drought in the mid 1930's, the family moved back to Kansas where her parents were raised. Marie attended school at Elbing, Kansas before attending Oklahoma Bible Academy in Meno, Oklahoma where she graduated with the class of 1948. Here she met a young man by the name of Milton Harms. Marie and Milt were married in a double wedding ceremony along with her sister Viola and John Klingenberg on October 15, 1948 at the Emmaus Church near Whitewater, Kansas. The newlywed couple lived on a farm two miles southeast of Cordell, Oklahoma. Besides farming, Milt began cutting meat with Safeway and later United Super Markets. In 1971 they moved to Moore, Oklahoma where they bought and operated a meat processing plant. Milt and Marie sold their processing business in 1989 and worked in the catering business with their son Randie. They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church in Moore. Marie taught Sunday School with the two year olds for 50 years. She also worked with the food outreach program for her church. Milton and Marie moved to the Fairview Fellowship Home in 2016. Marie loved to raise a garden, and canned many fruits and vegetables which her family and friends were recipients of. She enjoyed being involved in quilting, puzzles, crafts, classes and any other activities with the other residents. She loved playing dominoes and taking care of the plants in the plant room.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Milt Harms; son Bruce Harms; great-grandson McOlsen Pendleton; sister Elma Buzenitz; brother Elmer Regier, and sisters Viola Klingenberg, Verna Kehn and Ella Regier; Survivors include daughter Grace Karber and husband Royce of Fairview, Oklahoma; son Randie Harms and wife Jody of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Ruth Buller and husband Ron of Moore, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Amanda Gillespie and husband Aaron, Cara Sharp and husband Phillip, Erin Walker and husband Scott, Devon Pendleton and husband Matt, J.D. Karber and wife Jami, Lindsie Wright and husband Caleb, Adam Harms and wife Jenny, Kate Lubbers-Jones and husband Shane and Audrey Bayliss and husband Kevin Bonham; twenty one great-grandchildren and many extended family.

Marie peacefully entered Heaven on Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 2023 with family at her side in Fairview, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 5 days. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday evening, March 29, 2023 at Pierce Funeral Home, 721 S. Main in Fairview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview with Pastor Derek Cox officiating. Interment will follow at the Saron Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview. Memorials may be made to the Gideons with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Interment will follow at Saron Mennonite Cemetery near Orienta, OK.
