Funeral Services for Charles Eugene Reese, age 79, will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church of Fairview. The Reverend Rich Redinger will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Sunday, from 12:00 pm. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Charles was born September 29, 1929, Rusk, Oklahoma, to Claude Earl Reese Sr. and Inez May McGinnis and died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Greenbrier Skilled Nursing in Enid, Oklahoma.

Charles attended a one room grade school through 8th grade and the graduated from Fairview High School in 1947. He attended Oklahoma State University (OK A&M).

He served in U.S. Air Force from 1951 through 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Charles trained as a jet mechanic. February 1,1953 he married Barbara Glasgow and the young couple was stationed in Germany where he served as a Hanger Chief from 1953-1955.

In 1955, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force and returned to farm for the next 54 years. In 1980 he became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and spent 20 years carrying the message to suffering alcoholics and addicts.

Charles was a member of the Fairview First United Methodist Church where he served as youth sponsor for several years. He belonged to the American Legion King Hagen Post 51, served on the Progressive School Board and was a friend of Bill W’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Claude Reese Jr.

Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara of the home; two sons, Charles “Corky” Reese Jr. and wife Cathy of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Brett Reese and wife Debby of Fairview and one daughter, Cindy and husband Dr. Scott Fooshee of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by one brother Lewis Reese and wife Margy of Fairview; one sister, Dorothy Cornelson of Aurora, Colorado; along with many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fairview First United Methodist Church or OMRF Diabetes Research through Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
