J. G. Miller
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, for J.G. Miller, 77, Isabella, at the Homestead Bible Church, with Pastor Jeremy Parker officiating. Interment is at Rusk Cemetery. Arrangements are with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
J.G. was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Isabella to Jesse and Dorothy Miller and passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at his home in Isabella. He grew up in the Isabella area and graduated from Fairview High School in 1957. During his high school years, he was varsity football captain, All-District Quarterback, member of National Honor Society, and president of his sophomore and senior class. J.G. married Karen Cornelsen June 2, 1957. They moved to Wichita, Kan., where J.G. was employed with Boeing for six months. He later attended Oklahoma State University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. J.G. and Karen began a custom harvesting operation in 1962, which continued throughout many years. In addition, he ran cattle and became a well-trusted cattle buyer in northwest Oklahoma.
J.G. loved working with cattle and horses, which he learned from the Miller family. He loved football and especially watching his sons and grandsons. He loved all his children and grandchildren and they were the light of his life. J.G. had a life changing experience in 2000, when he committed his life to his Lord. He faithfully attended the Homestead Bible Church. In addition, he regularly participated at AA meetings during this time, including speaking at Crabtree Correctional Institution.
J.G. is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home, whom he dearly loved. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary June 2, 2016. He is also survived by his five children, Tammy and Ron Fast; Doug and Julie Miller; Linda and Rod Turney; David and Meri Ann Miller; and Darin and Denise Miller; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue and Mack Wedel; and Gay Morrison; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
J.G. was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Dorothy Miller; two sisters, Kathryn Kay Miller and Ann Hearon; brother, Jim Miller; and brother-in-law, Gary Morrison.
Memorials may be made to Gideon's or Alcoholics Anonymous, with the funeral home acting as custodian.
