ENID, Okla. — The graveside service for Ted "Wayne" Woods , 68-year-old Meno resident, will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John Bizzell will officiate. Arrangments are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Wayne was born July 22, 1944, in Grenada, Miss., to Bob and Ollie May (Self) Woods and died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, in Oklahoma City at Bass Baptist. Wayne attended local schools in Mississippi, and after school, he worked as a roofer with his brothers, and later contractor for the Sears Company, and then he opened his own roofing company, Wayne Wood Roofing, which he operated for over 35 years. In May of 1977, he married Mary (Fyffe) and the couple lived in Memphis.
They moved to Meno in 2009.
Wayne was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved his pet dogs. He was an extremely generous man and caring person.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home, his daughter, Stacey Riley, of Arkansas; four sisters, Bernice, Elise, Dora, and Ouida; one brother, Russell; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his special friend Tammy-Belle, his pit bull-terrier mix.
He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Wayne Woods , his parents, four brothers and two sisters, and his friend, old English shepherd, Esau, who was his special dog for 13 years and who died two weeks ago.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Enid ASPCA or to the Meno Fire Department.
