The funeral for Loren Edward Unruh, 62, Meno, who died Thursday afternoon as a result of injuries received in an accident August 1, will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Baptist Church at Ringwood. The Rev. Dean Goodfellow will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Meno, under direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.
Unruh was born September 14, 1921, north of Meno to Fred and Helena Unruh. The oldest of five sons, he lived around the Ringwood – Meno area all of his life. After attending the Goltry and Helena schools, he worked at various farming and labor jobs until 1949. On May 21, 1949, he and Wilma Sherman were married. They settled on a farm 5 miles south of Meno. She died September 18, 1975.
Unruh later began to work for Major County and then was transferred to Garfield County where he was employed at the time of his death.
On August 3, 1976, he and Verna Wedel were married. They lived on a farm South of Meno. He was a member of the United Church of Lahoma.
Survivors include his wife, Verna, of the home; one son, Terry W. Unruh, Enid; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Willa Jean) Chitwood, Ringwood; three step – daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Karen) Campbell, Mrs. C. E. (Connie) Shaffer and Mrs. Ron (Lois) Koehn, all of Ringwood. Six granddaughters; five step – grandsons; one step – granddaughter; and four brothers, Harold and Lyle, both of Dalhart, Texas, Loel, Kaw City, and Jack, Enid.
Memorials in his name may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, division of one's choice, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
