Ringwood – funeral services for Gary Lee Maddox, 31, will be at 2 PM Friday in the United Methodist Church at Ringwood with the Rev. Joe Sherril and the Rev. Wilford Ulrich of Enid as the officiating ministers.
Maddox will be buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Meno, with the Kenny Lanman Funeral Home of Helena in charge of arrangements.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2270, of Enid. At the time of his death, Maddox was senior vice commander of the post.
Maddox died Tuesday in an Enid hospital after a period of ill health. He was born August 7, 1949, at Fairview and lived in Ringwood for about eight years before moving to Borger, Texas, and later to Perryton, Texas. He had attended school at all three places before joining the U. S. Army in 1967.
During his eight years of military service, Maddox served two tours of duty in Vietnam and attained the rank of staff sergeant. In addition to being a member of the VFW, Maddox also belonged to the United Methodist Church. He was a mechanic and owned and operated the Maddox Garage in Ringwood.
Maddox was preceded in death by his father, Jean Maddox and by two grandfathers.
He is survived by his wife, the former Faye O'Brian and five children, Roxan O'Brian, Tanis Maddox and Chuck O'Brian, all of the home, Coy Dean Maddox and Toby Don Maddox, both of Perryton; his mother and stepfather, Edna and Bill Bowman, Ringwood; a sister, Carla Green, Del City; two brothers, Willis Maddox of Enid and Dennis Maddox of Del City; two grandmothers.
