November 20, 1931 - December 22, 2018

Verleen Mae Delano was born November 20, 1931, on a farm southwest of Aline, to Hughie and Alice Stevens Huffman, and passed from this life December 22, 201,8 in Enid.

Verleen attended Elm Flat and Oak Dale Grade Schools and graduated from Cleo Springs High School. She was a member of Aline Christian Church.

She and Dean M. Delano were married June 28, 1949, at Cherokee. They lived in and around Aline and Cleo Springs Communities until 1958, at which time they moved to Ringwood.

They owned and operated Ringwood Sundries. After they sold this business, Verleen continued to work for the new owners.

Then in 1963, she went to work for the oil company south of Ringwood. She worked for Livingston Oil Company, Ladd Petroleum and Cross Timbers for a total of thirty-eight years, retiring in January 2001.

In 2005 she moved to Enid where she attended the Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.

Verleen is preceded in death by her parents, Hughie and Alice Huffman; her husband, Dean; a twin sister, Colleen and a brother, Jimmie.

Those who survive are two daughters, Karen Carter of Enid, and Pam Mendenhall and husband, Rob, of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Ronnie Dean Robinson of Helena, Angela MacKinnon and husband, Clint of Edmond, Brandi Gibson of Enid, Bodie Fenton and wife, Lori of Helena, Nikki Clark and husband, David of Waukomis; eleven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends.

Funeral service for Verleen Delano is 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church in Enid. Burial follows at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Meno. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.
