November 5, 1939 ~ February 6, 2022

Naoma McCormick, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2022, in Enid after a long battle with dementia. Naoma was born on November 5, 1939 in Amistad, New Mexico to Sager and Leah Brewster Steen. Naoma was raised in the Amistad area until her mother passed away when Naoma was twelve years of age. She later moved to Jet where she lived with her maternal aunt, Bertha Smith and husband, Preston. She was a graduate of Jet High School in 1957.

Naoma met Harley McCormick and they were married on March 8, 1958 in Caldwell, Kansas. They lived in Wichita, Kansas for several years until they moved to Wakita, Oklahoma. In 1964 Harley acquired the Phillips 66 Service Station in Ringwood. The family grew quickly having four children in five years. Naoma was kept busy taking care of her family and participating in her children's school activities. She took a lot of pride in sewing for her children. She spent many hours at the sewing machine, even making Barbie clothes.

She was a member of the Major County Home Extension Club, filled her spare time doing arts and crafts, and enjoyed taking painting classes. Later she opened The Country House where she truly enjoyed interacting with her customers. Several years later she was employed at Golden Oaks Village.

Naoma (Mimi) loved her grandchildren and did whatever she could to spoil them. She worked very hard to make her children and grandchildren understand the importance of family and traditions. All holidays called for a celebration, including dressing up, drinking sparkling grape juice, and visits from the Easter Bunny. Our family was blessed with her ability to make each and every one of us feel special.

Naoma is survived by her children, Randy (Terri Ann) McCormick of Blanchard, Kim (Jon) Larsen of Meno, Darla (Mark) Adkisson of Ringwood and Tammy (Mark) Van Meter of Fairview. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Adrian (Jesse) Ryel, Kalee (Jeremy) Brett, Andrew (Heather) McCormick, Lauren Childs, Barrett McCormick, Paige (Daylon) Krause, Shelbi (Brandon) Harris, Payton (Sam) Stephens, and Ami (Layne) Livermont. She was also blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harley, and her grandson, Dusty. Also preceding her in death are her eleven older siblings.

Funeral service for Naoma will be Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m at Faith Center Fellowship in Meno.
