Orion Cemetery



August 10, 1949 ~ August 14, 2006

A graveside service for Dan Lee Jones, 57, will be 10 a.m. today in Orion Cemetery. The Rev. Orville White will officiate. Full military rites will be conducted by King-Hagen American Legion Post 51. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.

He was born Aug. 10, 1949, in Atchison, Kan., to Ronald Grant Sr. and Virginia Mae Lutz Jones and died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, in Atchison.

He attended Washington Elementary School in Atchison and graduated from Atchison High School in 1967. He later attended vocational technical school where he studied auto body and auto mechanics.

He married Elaine Liebsch Nov. 7, 1969, in Atchison. He served in the Army in Vietnam. Following his discharge he returned to Atchison where he worked at Lincoln Grain Elevator and Lancaster Co-op. In 1977, he moved his family to Helena. He worked at Waldon's in Fairview, Big Red Well Service, Capital Well Service, Dresser Titan in Enid. Koch Oil Co., E&H Transfer and Grothe Steel and Components in Fairview.

He married Diane Dvorak Palmer July 4, 1986, in Fairview where they made their home. He was a member of King-Hagen American Legion Post 51 in Fairview and worked with his son as a framing carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Diane of Fairview; one daughter, Sherry Jones of Helena; two sons, Daniel Jones of Lenexa, Kan., and Mike Jones of Helena; his mother, Virginia Jones of Atchison; one sister, Vickie Pilcher of Atchison; one brother, Ronnie Jones of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
