Vernon Ray Wichert was born on November 1, 1938 at the family farm, the only child of Herman and Marie (Morawski) Wichert. He departed this life on Sunday morning, October 21, 2018 at his home in Fairview.
Farming, raising animals and riding his horses were the things that brought Vernon pleasure. He managed Montgomery Oil Co. for many years. Vernon carried instruments for the family as they gathered to play together or for others. Helping others brought him great joy. He was always willing to drive you to the doctor, mow, build fences, just basically whatever you needed.
After retirement, mornings were spent at Kidd Drug with the coffee gang, lunch at the Senior Citizens followed by a good game of pool, supper at Pizza Hut, church on Sunday mornings and then games and snacks in the afternoon.
Vernon loved his family and friends. We loved and valued him. Memorials may be made to the Fairview M.B. Church with the funeral home acting as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
