Lahoma – The funeral for Emerson George "Papa" Unruh, 101, will be 10 AM Wednesday at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno. The Revs Larry Brashear and Dave Jones will officiate. Burial will be in New Hopedale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.
He was born December 15, 1898, in Moundridge, Kansas, to Fredrick and Susana Unruh and died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.
As a young child, he moved to Lahoma with his parents. On July 14, 1918, he married Anna Johnson at Lahoma. She died April 11, 1963. He was a farmer and later worked at Longbell Lumber Company in the window and sash department, retiring in 1961. He was a painter for many years and played music with the "Old-timers" for many years.
On February 16, 1967, he married Maudie Dennis at Hutchinson, Kansas. They lived in Lahoma. She died April 23, 1977. He moved to Waukomis in July 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Margie Pearson and Joyce Goodnight of Waukomis; six grandchildren; eight great – grandchildren; and several great – great – grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
