March 17, 1937 - April 14, 2019

Funeral Services for Royce Patrick “Pat” Wahl Sr., 82, will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Isabella Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Pat was born Patrick Ross Wahl on March 17, 1937 in Isabella Oklahoma to Edwin Gustav and Gladys B. (Bauman) Wahl and passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 peacefully at his home.

Pat grew up in the Isabella area and attended school there and loved it. While growing up in Isabella the Wahl family was very close and pat loved that. He was also very proud of his German Heritage. Pat talked and remembered those days all of his life and loved them.

After high school he joined the United States Army. At this time the Army got a copy of his birth certificate and he discovered that he was born Royce Patrick Wahl and not Patrick Ross. This came as quite a surprise to him. After he was honorably discharged from the US Army, Pat moved to Joplin where he met Bonnie J. Koon. The couple fell in love and on March 3, 1959 they were married in Miami Oklahoma. The couple settled down in Joplin and made it their home. They were blessed with one son, Royce Patrick Wahl Jr.. Pat and Bonnie lived in Joplin the rest of his life where he worked as a plumber until he retired.

Pat was a God loving man and felt that all God’s creations were miracles. Pat loved nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life he enjoyed sitting in the hunting blind to just watch nature. He was a very hard working man that truly loved his family. He was the last surviving sibling of the Edwin Wahl family. That made him feel very lonely and on April 14 he went to join them. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Pat is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home, and son Royce Patrick Wahl Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
