CANTON - The funeral for Vernon McNabb, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Longdale Community Church with the Rev. Matthew Beers officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery east of Chester, and is under the direction of Haigler Funeral Home. McNabb died at his home Monday.
He was born in Dewey County on Aug. 14, 1913, grew up and attended school in the Seiling community. He married Darlene Avery Aug. 23, 1941, at Seiling. They lived in the community for several years, moved to Shattuck and into the Canton and Longdale communities in 1959. McNabb retired in 1975 from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, where he was employed in research work.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve, Bethany and David, Longdale; two daughters, Mrs. Karen Jones, Weatherford, and Mrs. Carol Meister, Longdale; four sisters, Jean Smith, Garden Grove, Calif., Ollie Romine, Waynesville, Mo., Maude McNabb and Erma Smith, Monterrey Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
