Graveside service for David Roland Manthey, 69, of Enid, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, in Glenwood Cemetery, Ringwood, with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Arrangements are under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service. Visitation with the family 6-8 p.m. this evening at Stittsworth’s.
David was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Upland, Calif., the son of Gilbert Lee and Gladys Loraine Woolever Manthey and passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2012, at his residence. He was raised in Baldwin Park, Calif. He was raised in Baldwin Park, Calif. David served his country in the United States Navy from January 1960 to October 1964. David married Donna Kay John in Iola, Kan., on Jan. 2, 1962. They moved to West Covina, Calif., where they lived until moving to Enid in October 1979. David worked as a lab technician and later as an LPN until 1980, when he accepted a position with Marlatt Supply. David worked in sales at Marlatt until retirement in 1995. David was a member of Evening Kiwanis, board member of Opportunities School, and an inspector for TARC.
David is survived by his wife, Donna of the residence; daughter, Sherri Lynn Manthey of Enid; brothers, Harry of Beach Grove, Ark., and Gilbert of San Carlos, Calif.; and grandson, David Conrad Gibbs of Dallas, Texas.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Susanne Gibbs.
Memorials may be made in David’s memory to Hospice Circle of Love or Rebels Special Olympics with the Stittsworth Family serving as custodian of the funds.
