Minnie Aquilla Frickel was the second child of seven children born to Michael George and Priscilla B. (Diller) Frickel on their homestead located north and west of Ringwood. She was born on April 25, 1901. She grew up in Ringwood and attended college at Alva, Oklahoma. She later taught school in Major County.

On May 2, 1922, she and Arthur Nelson were married at her parent's home. They moved to a farm near Hitchcock and while there, daughter Lucille was born. They moved to Okeene for five years and while there, sons James and Louis were born. They left Oklahoma and moved to Dodge City Kansas where son Robert was born. They lived in Jetmore Kansas and in 1931 moved to Leoti Kansas where son Darrel was born in 1938. This completed their family with four boys and one girl. Lucille graduated high school at Leoti. They had endured the terrible dirt storms and hard times.

In 1941, the family moved back to Ringwood where Arthur had been born, part of Old Woods Co that is now Major County. The boys finished their high school years at Ringwood and were called to serve their country. James was in the Army, Louis was in the Navy, Robert and Darrel were in the Marines. All returned home safely
