J.M. Crowder of 1518 Washington St, who was stricken with a stroke of paralysis a few days ago, passed away at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. Anderson preached a short funeral sermon at the house at 9:30 this morning after which the body was shipped to Ringwood, O.T., for interment.
Mr. Crowder was born in Madison County, Ill. in 1819. He resided in that state, though not in the same county, until he was 50 years of age.
Then thinking to better himself he moved to the new state of Kansas with a number of other settlers. He resided in that state until the opening of Oklahoma in 1893. At that time he secured a good claim but for the last few years of his life has lived in town. He leaves a widow and three children, two boys and one girl, to mourn his loss. Two children, a boy and a girl have passed to the great beyond before him. Mr. Crowder was respected and loved by all who knew him both in Kansas and the territory.
