A Celebration of Life service for James "Jim" Tate, age 83, of Enid, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021, at Graceway Baptist Church with Craig Bruyn. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, OK, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jim was born October 16, 1938, in Hollywood, CA, to James H. and Olga Helgeson Tate and passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the Garland Road Nursing Center. He attended and graduated from Fairview High School in 1956. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve from 1955 to 1960. Jim started to work for Southwestern Bell in 1956 and retired in 1990. He married the love of his life and best friend Shirley Jenene Fawcett on August 19, 1958, in Fairview, OK. To this union two children were born Bill and Cindy. He attended Calvary Baptist Church for 58 years and later joined Graceway Baptist Church. He was very active and served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and many other things in the church.
He is survived by his wife, Jenene, of the home, son Bill and wife Kellie Tate of Edmond, daughter Cindy and husband Kelly Goodwin of Enid, four grandchildren; Jennifer, Austin, Jordan, and Katie, five great-grandchildren; Hannah, Will, Evangeline, Greyson, and Avery, two sisters, Bobbie Needhan and Pat Strahan and other family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clayton Bryant and sister Sharon Dehne.
Memorials may be made to Graceway Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
