Helena – Graveside services for Betty Simpson will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jay Drawbridge officiating. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.
Betty was born January 1, 1937 to Henry R. Eck and Salome Penner Eck. She was the first New Years’ baby in Major County. She attended Golden Valley School through the 8th grade and then attended Fairview High School graduating in 1954. She was an excellent student. She went to Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston. She moved back to Fairview in 1960 and worked for attorney, Joe Houk. Betty typed over 110 words per minute and was very fast at shorthand. She attended Church of God during this time. She was an excellent pianist and had a beautiful alto voice. She sang with her family, The Eck Family Singers, singing at benefits and church concerts. In 1972 she married James Simpson and lived in Helena, attending the Baptist Church. They had one daughter, Kari Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kerwin.
She is survived by daughter, Kari Roberts and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Kinsy, Kort and Katera Roberts; step children, Janet Wohlgemut and Wayne Simpson; sisters, Gloria Fast and husband, Melvin, Marcia Hauenstein and Kathy Switzer and husband, Greg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Cherokee School Music Department through the funeral home.
