Erldean Shafer
March 31, 1923 - May 2, 2008

A memorial service for Erldean Shafer, 85, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. The Reverend David Mendenhall will officiate. Erldean was cremated per his wish. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Friends may sign the register book at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., Monday through Friday, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Erldean Shafer was born March 31, 1923 on a farm southwest of Fairview to Roy and Maude (McKee) Shafer and passed away May 2, 2008 at his home in Fairview.

Erldean attended Longdale and Fairview High School. He married Alice McKinnis in Wellington, Kansas on January 14, 1942. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Seattle, Washington. There he worked in the shipyards, later moving to Richland Washington working on the atomic plant until it was finished. He then worked helping building power plants over the United States. The Lord blessed Erldean and Alice with two loving sons. When the children started school the family returned to Fairview to make their home. Erldean was a member of the Masons, the Steamfitters Local 344 for over 55 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by son Michael and his wife Jeannine of Ringwood, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Trent Shafer of Hohenwald, Tennessee, Renee Mulanax and husband Mark of El Reno, Oklahoma; one great grandson, Devon Moody also of El Reno and a sister, Doris McKinnis of Fairview.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, son Mark and brother Marrall Shafer.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to OMRF Cancer Division.
