Fairview Cemetery


Laverne Kusch, 87 year old Fairview resident, died April 28, 2014 in the Woodward Regional Hospital, Woodward, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday May 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. The Reverend David Mendenhall will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Laverne was born on January 3, 1927, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma to Vernon H. and Nora (Hedges) Collins. Laverne moved to Fairview in 1928 and attended Fairview Schools, graduating from Fairview High School. On September 4, 1944, Laverne married Jakie Kusch JR. They were blessed with two children, Katherine Kay and Michael Leon. Laverne worked at Jon Gard’s Jewelry Store and also worked as a telephone operator. Several years later, she worked at George Francis Income Tax Service. Then for 22 years Laverne worked for Waldons Incorporated in the photography printing room, then transferred to the receptionist position and lastly was secretary for Walt Bartel.

She belonged to the Fairview Home Demonstration club and was a volunteer and treasurer many years with the Fairview Hospital Volunteer Auxillary. She loved going to the Fairview Fellowship Home to visit many residents and later was designated Special Volunteer. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and taught first and third grade Sunday school classed and helped with Girls Auxillary. Laverne loved fishing, playing bridge, and golfing in her younger years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Aaron and husband Dr. Frank S. Aaron of Woodward, OK, a son, Mike Kusch and wife Rhonda of Fairview, OK; four grandchildren, Julie McNair and husband John of Dallas, TX; Brad Aaron and wife Holly of Oklahoma City, OK; Amy Sutton of Woodward, OK and Dana Richter and husband Wayne of Fairview, OK; and eight great-grandchildren, Austin and Aaron McNair, Avalon and Gracie Aaron, Amber Conrady, Alyssa and Ava Sutton and Cole Richter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church with the Fairview Funeral Home accepting the contributions.
