Fairview Cemetery


Funeral Service for Melvin J Kliewer, 85, of Weatherford, lifelong resident of Fairview, will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Fairview First Baptist Church followed by burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Melvin J Kliewer was born November 10, 1936 in Fairview Oklahoma, to Arthur "Art" and Josephine Edna (Parker) Kliewer and passed from this life to the next on December 22, 2021 at the memory care facility in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

He grew up on the family farm with his three brothers, Jim, Larry, and Glenn and four sisters, Bonnie William, Melva Brown, Arthetta Kimmell, and Janet Jackson. He resided in Fairview his entire life until in his later years he needed assistance and he moved in with his family at Thomas, Oklahoma. He attended the Fairview Public Schools and graduated High School in 1955. J married Chrystal Kay Proffitt on February 18, 1958 and was blessed with one son and two daughters. After a stint in the U. S. Army, he entered into farming and custom harvesting with his father.

Melvin J Kliewer became a respected businessman in Fairview. Eventually, he became known as an entrepreneur by starting and operating local businesses. Along with his brothers Larry and Glenn, J began Fairview Casing which eventually became the beginning of Fairview Power Tongs and were well known in the Oklahoma Oil Industry. J and Larry started a window production business known as Progressive Windows. Through these businesses J became a prominent employer in the Fairview area.

Many people remember J as a generous donor and benefactor. In fact, his contributions through the years were often tremendous and helped many individuals, local charities, churches and school functions such as FFA and 4-H. He was a very generous person that truly enjoyed helping others. Melvin J Kliewer was a member of the Fairview First Baptist Church. He was loved by all who knew him and will truly be missed.

J is survived by his two daughters, Angela Nault and husband Dale of Edmond, and Darla Manns of Fairview, son Justin Kliewer and wife Mary of Thomas, nine grandchildren, Taylor Nault and wife Brandi, Levi Kliewer, Darcey Simpson and husband Quentin, Bailey Kliewer, Kalli Justice and husband Dalton, Chisholm Kliewer, Braden Manns, Jayden Manns, and Kaytie Manns, eight great grandchildren, one brother Larry Kliewer, three sisters, Melva Brown, Arthetta Kimmell, and Janet Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Chrystal, his father, his mother, two brothers James and Glenn, and sister Bonnie Williams.
