Funeral services for Billy Ray Keeton, 84 of Longdale, will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10 am in the Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Derek Cox officiating. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Billy “Bill” Ray Keeton was born November 11, 1937 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Raymond and Thelma (Howerton) Keeton and died at his home west of Fairview on Wednesday, August 3, 2022
Bill grew up in the Fairview area and graduated as valedictorian of the 1956 Fairview High School class. Also in 1956, he won 3rd place in the state for the half mile run. He married Lahoma and to this union, Debbie was born. Not long after he moved to Liberal Kansas and worked as a police officer. He moved back to Fairview and married Eleanor Joan (Martin) McGolden on September 1, 1966. With this marriage, Bill’s family grew with the addition of two sons, Chris and Vince McGolden. He spent the most of his life farming and raising cattle but he also worked for Burrell Implement Co., for over 20 years as the parts manager and for Major County District III as a grader man 19 years.
He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, and also loved to fish and teach his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed going to watch them compete at sports and help his kids through FFA and 4H. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be truly missed.
Bill is survived by his wife Joan of the home, his daughter Debbie Kidd and her husband Randy, two sons Chris McGolden and his wife Ginna and Vince McGolden and his wife Jackie, eight grandchildren, Mindy Roley, Matthew Hinton, Michael Hinton, Allison and husband Corey Taylor, Britnie McGolden, Madison and husband Logan Nightengale, Chase McGolden, and Chad and wife Brooklynn McGolden, and five great grandchildren, Hannah Roley, Jackson Roley, Landon Taylor, Hudson Taylor, and Harper Nightengale.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church or the Fairview Hospital Physical Therapy Department.
